So this afternoon, I was allegedly trying on my outfits for BlogHer (what? You didn’t do that? Liar.) when I made a most ridiculous discovery.
The kind of discovery which MUST be shared.
Y’all know about the Shoenicorn and how much I love her, right?
I love her so much I started a worldwide manhunt for her that ended with me Dan finding her practically living in our back yard.
I love her so much I bought her cousin, Silver Shoenicorn, because she helps complete my closet.
What y’all do not know, and which I did not know until naptime, is that the Silver Shoenicorn has a mean streak. Apparently, she took umbrage with the fact that Dan found her cousin last week and she decided to sneak-attack me with a right hook.
Do y’all see anything right about this picture?
Oh yes, people.
That is two RIGHT Silver Shoenicorns.
Just in case you were wondering, I only have ONE right foot. And I think “BFF shoes” might be somehow ridiculous. I also think that “one shoe” technically qualifies as “no shoes” so I could never enter a gas station again unless I wanted to attempt a half-Britney.
AND?
My Granny once told me it’s bad luck to walk around your house with only one shoe on so I’ve always been leery of doing that.
Except, apparently, when it comes to trying on said shoes in the store. Then it’s perfectly acceptable to only try on one shoe, squeal with delight that you’ve found your solemate, throw it in the box, and hightail it to the checkout where you can make her yours forever and ever.
Which is exactly what I did when I bought Silver Shoenicorn.
So? The saga continues and we will venture to the Shoenicorn’s hideout today to see if we can find an ACTUAL pair of her silver cousin.
I’ll keep you posted.
***Update***
We had errands to run this afternoon and we planned our route based on proximity to Target stores. We started with the one where Dan found the Tan Shoenicorn. No luck.
Then we hit two more.
Yes. I’m serious.
But we had no luck at those two stores either, so we came home and I dropped Dan and Joshua off and headed toward our local Target store with a route that would lead me to three more in the event that I struck out at my first one.
Yes. I’m serious.
When I got to the shoe department, my heart leaped up! There she was! A size 9! And oh look! Another one!
But they were both lefties.
Yes. I’m serious.
To get some good Shoe Karma I took the two lefties to the girl working in the shoe department and told her where she could find their mates. She probably thought I was insane.
I tried on a 9.5 and almost cried at the thought that I’d returned the two right shoes to the wrong Target store earlier this afternoon. And then I turned around and there she was. My Silver Shoenicorn.
I would laugh, but the number of times I’ve accidentally bought two right shoes is MORE THAN TWO, which is just plain embarrassing.
Oh, I’m so laughing. I honestly got so excited I didn’t even THINK to check to see if they were a matching pair.
Here’s hoping the Silver Shoenicorn still exists.
ZOMG. Cracking up – what on earth?
It’s hates you. And now you must punish it by wearing them for HOURS as you party.
I will SO punish it. Assuming I can find it. :/
You have got to be kidding me. Good luck!
I’ve never checked a shoe box to make sure it contained both a left and right shoe… I will from now on!
I will never NOT check now. Ever.
Holy crap, Miranda!! And that Target where I saw SO many of them? Isn’t even close enough to my house that I’d be there again anytime soon.
I can’t believe the checker didn’t check them when you paid!
I can. I don’t think they ever check them.
But, all is well now. Thank GOD.
Phew, thank goodness you finally have both left and right sides!!!!
I’m so pumped to have these shoes. Finally. Two functional, working pair.
so glad you found both!! Also so glad you introduced me to shoenicorn {which I’m wearing to work right now}. I’ve never had such comfy wedges before! Can’t wait to take twin shoe photos NEXT WEEK!!
Yay for shoe twins! YAY FOR NEXT WEEK!
Too funny, Miranda. Too funny! Now next time I’m looking for shoes I’ll call on you and Dan since you all are Shoe Hunters.
He and I? Have gotten pretty awesome at this track-down-the-shoe thing.
I used to sell shoes. Let’s just say I NEVER make that mistake. I will be at the front checking out and open the box one more time to make sure. Because I’ve been yelled at a lot about that very thing. So yeah, learned my lesson.
p.s. you’re hilarious.
I think I checked the update pair four times before I was satisfied that I finally had two size 9 shoes–a left AND a right.
And thanks. I try to bring the funny when I can.
