In January, I decided to get serious about moving my blog from Blogger to WordPress.org. Except someone swooped in and purchased the URL for my blog without knowing about me. Which is totally understandable since I’m, like, an ant or something.
Anyway, I went into a panicked frenzy and bought about three variations of domain names to be used for this blog, and after the owner of my coveted domain contacted me, we arranged for me to purchase it from him.
(It was a total mistake and he was gracious about it. No pitchforks, please!)
Why do/did I care so much about getting rid of the hyphen? Well, because when I said the URL in my head I’d say notsuperdashjustmomdotcom and it annoyed me. And, well, because it was being used incorrectly. (Warning–that’s a totally safe for your brain and work English teacher-y link.)
Then some weird e-thing happened where the non-hyphenated domain name got sent to DNS purgatory.
(I have no idea what happened and I only vaguely know what DNS stands for. There were so many acronyms flying around at one point I asked if my blog had an STD. Yes. Yes, I did.)
And then? Finally? FINALLY?!?! I said enough prayers and JP sent enough emails.
My tech guru, JP of Japster, Inc.,ย did a little nipping and tucking around here last night.

The hyphen in my URL is gone!
I repeat–the hyphen in my URL is GONE.
Which is kind of a mixed bag, as it turns out, because in a lot of ways, this means I’m starting over from zero on behind-the-scenes things like Alexa and pagerank and analytics.
But, you can help if you’re so inclined (and really, I hope you’ll help).
If you have a bookmark or link to my site on your site, please update the URL in your link to the new hyphen-less URL.
That’s it. That’s all you have to do.
(I mean, unless you’re inclined to do more, in which case, I can totally let you know other ways to help! Such as,ย “Like” my posts on Facebook with the little button? Pay off my student loans?)
Thanks for being awesome, and welcome to my new home.
And there I was tweeting you frantically wondering what happened to your blog, and I thought, huh, maybe I’ll just take out the hyphen and BOOM! Here I am! I’m gonna update the URL now!
Thanks for alerting me to the fact that it wasn’t working yesterday!
Yay for being dashless! {or should it be dash-less!?!} Ha!
I actually think either is acceptable. So yay for appropriate use of the hyphen!
I’m assuming it updates automatically if we subscribe via Google Reader. Because I got here through my Reader and I see no dash…
That’s what I was hoping would happen! At first it wasn’t doing this and now? It is. Whew!
pssst.. your “HOME” link on the left still has the hyphen and it takes you to nowhere.
That and the header were complete pains in the ass yesterday. But? I now know how to fix them. So there’s that. Whew!
Just removed the hyphen (loved the link!) from my bookmark. You’re welcome ๐
Thank you!
Thank Goodness, I was freaking when I couldn’t get my daily laugh in… sheesh! lol…
yay! good news!
I’m so happy to finally be home!
My blogger dashboard brought me to you with no problems…must correct itself? Odd…but yay you aren’t lost and you’re hyphen free!
I have it set up to redirect from the old URL to this one! It will only take people to the landing page, but at least it will get them here!
Good thing I get you in my email so I never have to type it in, hyphen or not, I just have to click the link to come. ๐ I’m happy for you either way.
I was actually scared email was going to be broken. But then I got feedburner fixed and email was fixed, too.
And thanks for your happiness!
