We Need to Talk About My Face (A Glycolic Acid Review)

March 17, 2016 by Miranda 4 Comments

About two years ago, I decided to start washing my face EVERY. SINGLE. NIGHT. No questions asked. I was going to DO IT.

I…was not successful in that endeavor. (I KNOW.)

I have since rectified this situation after noticing that I was developing bum bum bum… WRINKLES. Panic ensued!

OMG! I’m 34! I can’t have wrinkles! I have a 3 year old!?! WHAT IS THIS EVEN?!

See that? THAT FURROW LINE BETWEEN MY EYEBALLS? NOOOOO!

Okay, it was ONE major wrinkle. But it was a serious one.

Joshua would ask “Mama, what’s that LINE on your FACE?” and I would mentally write him out of my (unwritten) will because doesn’t he know I’m, like, 21 years old still? I cannot have a LINE on my FACE!

But I did, in fact, have a pretty deep frown/worry line developing in the furrow between my eyes. I also had the absolute worst breakout I’ve ever had in my entire life. It was time to get serious.

A friend recommended glycolic acid pads and I thought “what’s the worst that can happen? I burn my face skin off? Okay.” So I navigated to Amazon to place the order for some Glycolix Elite 20% treatment pads.

While I was at it I threw in a Pixnor P2016 Portable Microdermabrasion brush because I knew I needed to do some serious exfoliating and it was a whopping $12.99. (It’s the #1 bestseller, beating out the much, much more expensive name brand face brushes.)

When the products arrived, I got to work. I scrubbed my face daily, swiped my skin with the Glycolix Pads, and added a little moisturizer and tea tree oil to the routine in the morning.

Two months later, here are my side-by-side results.

My Face Again

DO YOU SEE THAT? Or NOT see that?

No filters, guys. I promise. (I did whiten my teeth a little. Maybe I’ll try teeth whitening products next.)

I mean, let’s just take another look.

my face on glycolic acid

This is two months of daily to every-other-day use.

That crease was always, always present, even when I didn’t furrow my brows. And I can guarantee you that my stress level in the last two months has not decreased to the point where I no longer walk around with a perma-furrow on my face.

My skin is smoother and brighter and that “fine line” furrow is disappearing. I’m not delusional enough to think it will go away forever, but I’m pretty excited with how well it’s been minimized in just two months.

I felt like I owed it to the world to share this new beauty product fave, so you’re welcome.

You can thank me properly when your wrinkles start to vanish. Now go add glycolic acid wipes to your arsenal! You’re not getting any younger!

OMG. You did NOT look older than 21 anyway (seriously…10 freaking years this spring?!…we need a reunion), but you definitely took some years off your face. I am impressed. And also clicking over to order those products NOW.

Great results! Which head did you use on the exfoliator scrub?
