Just my little secret

January 14, 2011 by Miranda Leave a Comment

Want to know how I haven’t lost my mind this week because of being stuck in the house?

This kid:

LOOK AT THE CURLS.

“Nostalgia” & “Backlit” filters.)

It’s hard to go stir crazy when an entire week home from work means the only hat I had to wear was the one that says “Mama.”

And you know what?

There was a time not too long ago when spending a week cooped up in the house with him, unable to get out and do anything at all, would’ve sent me into a bit of a spiral of negative emotions and self-doubt.

This week? Nah. None of that. This week was a fantastic Mama-Son week.  The kind I like to hold on to for use when I’m feeling particularly suckish at this mom thing.

(It's like a bookmark, but...not.)

And for that?  For this really, really good week? I’m truly thankful.

We watched too many episodes of Yo Gabba Gabba. We ate grilled cheese sandwiches.  We took naps.  We cuddled.  We read books.  We tickled. We eskimo kissed.  We built things. We knocked them down. We threw balls. We rolled trucks.  We played shapes. We did puzzles.

He helped with the laundry and unloading the dishwasher and picking up his toys each day (sort of).

He was my little sidekick.

And I was just Mom.
