Night two–completed

Night two was almost as good a night as night one. Overall, the weekend of single-motherhood has been successful. Not that I’m itching to be a single mother or anything, but I’m really surprised at how smoothly things have gone.

Joshua and I met up with a friend at the mall yesterday because I am in need of some clothes to wear to work since he wreaked havoc on my already really imperfect body. It sucks to have to buy a bigger size of pants so your muffin top has somewhere to go other than over the top of your pants. ::sigh:: Oh well. I can’t go to work naked.

So, we had a good time yesterday. He took a nap in the Moby and Dana and I found some good deals. He wasn’t terribly fussy in the car (well, he was on the way home, but he was hungry). It was a good day. I think if I hadn’t gotten out of the house, the day would’ve been less successful. I seem to always feel better on days when I get out and go somewhere, even it it’s just the grocery store.

Getting him to sleep took some work. I don’t know if the pseudo-Ferber sleep training is working, but I’ll keep it up for a couple more nights. He is usually down for the count by the third cycle of going in to soothe him, but last night he was so incredibly unhappy I couldn’t take it anymore. I scooped him up, bounced him until he was asleep, and then poured myself another glass of wine.

He woke up around midnight and I fed him, but he only stayed awake long enough to eat on one side, so I knew he’d be up again. He was up again at 2:45. But, he ate again and then didn’t wake up until almost 7:00, so it was a good night nonetheless. I feel rested (maybe because I had room to sprawl out in the whole bed?) which is not something I can usually say. I’m really thankful for the sleep. REALLY thankful.

He’s going to daycare for a few hours tomorrow even though I’ve been generously “given” two UNPAID days off from work this week (thank you, sucky Economy!). I figure that it’s best to go ahead and start some semblance of a daycare routine with him, and I’ve got some non-classwork related work I need to do. And laundry. And clean up the house. I’d like to have a clean house before I start work next week. We’ll see how it goes…

I had a picture of my son in very fashinable navy, blue, and green plaid pants when he was 5. The evidence has been destroyed,so any complaints are hearsay! Stopping by from SITS to say hi.

Question - I don't have a kid and don't know much about breastfeeding, so please enlighten me. I was under the impression that you weren't supposed to drink when breastfeeding? Or is it okay in small doses? Or am I reading incorrectly and you're formula feeding? Not being snarky at all, just curious :) Thanks - and I'm glad Joshua has been semi-cooperating!!
