Pull up a chair and get cozy.

March 7, 2011 by Miranda 10 Comments

Welcome to the new home!

There’s still a little sprucing up to do, but I’ve jumped to the dark side. (And ZOMG learning curve! Seriously, I just scrolled down below the editor window and I think the rest of this page may be written in Greek. I do not know this and I might be FREAKING OUT a little bit!)

Honestly, this move has been a long time coming. I wanted to do this last year and then I thought Dan would think I was crazy if I told him I wanted to buy my own domain. I mean, that’s “fancy” right? And this is just a hobby, right?

In January, a friend asked if I knew that someone had registered my domain. I did not know this. I think I had one of those moments where your heart leaps into your throat and is permanently lodged there and you start sweating and you’re all “THIS IS MY LIFE!!!!!” That’s when I knew this wasn’t just a hobby anymore.

In that moment of panic I reached out to Twitter and within minutes had people pitching in to help me sort the mess out.

One of those was none other than JP and Lins from Waking up Williams, and Japster, Inc fame.

Short on time? Save this post for later.

No more lost tabs, random screenshots, or digging through your browser history. Save this post and do future-you a favor.

(It's like a bookmark, but...not.)

By that evening, things were looking good.

So now, here I am, getting cozy in my new digs.

(The fact that I just said “new digs” makes me sound ridiculous. Whatever.)

I’m going to go drink some coffee and pretend I know what I’m doing around here. Y’all get comfy too, mmkay?

Congratulations! I’ve been wanting to make the leap for a while, but haven’t had the courage/budget -maybe one of these days I’ll be joining you on the dark side…

This leap is scary, heart-in-your-throat, OMG. But I think it’s going to be worth it! And you should use JP when/if you switch!

yeah. the learning curve is mighty huge. i spent hours and hours googling and researching all the different things you can do with wordpress last year when i switched.

and buying your own domain really makes your site feel like yours.

It totally feels like mine. And I’m LOVING the new look at your place!

Learning curve? This is like the Learning Mt. Everest.

I really want to switch but I am worried that I can’t justify it on my lil blog! But I do love the WP features… hmmmmm! Adorable by the way!

I didn’t think it was worth it for me, either, but I can already tell you that I’m glad I’ve done this!
