Update!

April 14, 2009 by Miranda 3 Comments

So, the doctor thinks we’re most likely dealing with a milk protein allergy. Since I’m exclusively breastfeeding, I have to eat a dairy free diet. Do you know how many things have milk proteins in them?? At the moment, even the bread I have in the house is out of the question for me. This is going to be tough.

She also thinks we’re dealing with reflux, so we started him on some medicine for that today. We’re going back to the doctor’s office next Wednesday (buh-bye to another $30!) to re-evaluate both the poop and the reflux.

Here’s hoping he’s feeling better.

Also, my piglet weighs 9 lbs 15 oz. He has gained 11 oz. since last Tuesday. HOLY CRAP! He’s growing up right before my eyes…

That sucks about the dairy free diet. But on the plus side, at least you have some answers. I hope you little man gets better soon.

I rocked the dairy-free diet for a short time, and it was really challenging. I found lots of desserts but not much else. Be wary of cherrybrook farms products; all the ones I tried were disgusting.

That said, it was definetely doable (but not enviable) and I admire you for doing it. If you start to get discouraged, price out some Similac Alimentum (sp) and that'll reinforce your commitment.
