This is just to say

November 16, 2012 by Miranda 1 Comment

This is just to say

I cannot release
the words
that are trapped in
my head

and which
you were probably
eager
to read

Forgive me
I am too tired
must sleep
right now

(The above is my spin on the William Carlos Williams poem “This is just to say” which can be found below. And which is one of my favorite poems. Next to my pal “Prufrock,” of course.)

(It's like a bookmark, but...not.)

This is just to say

I have eaten
the plums
that were in
the icebox

and which
you were probably
saving
for breakfast

Forgive me
they were delicious
so sweet
and so cold
