State of the Weight Wednesday: So Close I Can Taste It

Welcome back to another week of State of the Weight Wednesday!

SOTWW is about more than just the numbers on the scale. It’s about making small changes you can live with.

Now let’s get to it!

State of the Weight Wednesday, Finding Walden

Alright. In the spirit of full honesty, I wasn’t feeling it this week. I stayed the course and tracked my food (half the time?) and went to the gym and yoga and tried to drink enough water, but I was just feeling run down and tired and I did it all even though I didn’t want to do any of it.

And then this morning I got on the scale and it said 194.

ONE NINETY FOUR.

And now I’m all “MUST TRACK ALL THE FOODS AND DO ALL THE WORKING OUT!”

You guys. 194 pounds is exactly 1 pound more than I weighed the day I found out I was pregnant with Joshua.

I am the smallest I’ve been since 2008.

Sure, things about my body are different than they were then. I’m a little squishier. My skin is a little more saggy in odd places. (I think my knees look…older? Is that weird?)

But I’ve grown and fed two small humans so I suppose I can’t complain TOO much?

194 pounds. Only 5 pounds away from my 31 for 31 goal.

As for last week’s goals, in the midst of not wanting to do anything this week, I reminded myself continuously to keep breathing. If nothing else, breathe. Find my center. Then move.

When the Hatha class I took on Monday morning was absolutely kicking my ass, I just kept breathing. Consciously. When I couldn’t fall asleep because there were too many thoughts in my head, I breathed and listened to it to clear my mind.

I’ve tried to let breathing trickle into parts of parenting so when I feel myself getting cranky because Joshua proclaims he “doesn’t know how” to put on his shoes or that looking for them is too hard, or Emma is a whiny, cranky, all-over-me mess, I breathe. In and out. And then I respond. It works about 50% of the time. But hey, we have to start somewhere, right?

Even though I woke up with a headache this morning, a headache I’ve had for going on two days now, you can bet I’ll be at the gym this afternoon. And tomorrow. And then we’re going out of town for the weekend so I’ll be back on the elliptical next Tuesday.

(Remember–SOTWW is about doing what you can not doing everything all at once.)

The feeling of seeing that number on the scale this morning (194!!!!) and being SO CLOSE to my goal is just too great.

One of the things I think is contributing to this monster headache I can’t seem to kick for more than a day or two is dehydration. I’ll do great, the headache will leave, I’ll back off on the water, the headache will return. It’s just not a good cycle I’m in right now with that, so drinking water, which was one of the very first goals, is my goal for this week, which is a good goal since I’ll be away, you know? I might not be able to exercise, but I can drink water. And breathe.

Personal Goal: Drink more water. More than I think I need.
Weight Goal: 31 pounds total; 5 pounds to go!

Congratulations! So good to hear a story about sticking to it - not my personal strength ;-) I like your breathing advice - so smart - I'll try it. Keep on keeping on!
